Kids at Tok Ki's house

It's been awhile...no time to blog!Every time I turn on the computer Hanan would say e-yo,e-yo. She likes to watch Barney's I love you video and the Wiggles. I always end up dancing to the Wiggles instead of doing the tae-bo clips I downloaded from youtube. I'm so unfit that even the Wiggles pun dah mengah :P Haha.

Pics are of the kids at Tok Ki's house in Kuala Terengganu. Kids are wearing dresses by auntie Wan. She's given the kids four each..Salma sangat suka and even wears the dresses to bed.

Salma goes green

Adik copying Salma..and there's Hanan's new guitar. Bought it after the visit to the hospital. Hanan would make me play the guitar and sing
Hanan: I yau you
Me: I love you...you love me...
Hanan: Roun roun..
Me: The wheels on the bus go round and round..
Hanan: e-i-o
Me: Old McDonald had..
Hanan: Tittle tittle star
Me: Twinkle twinkle little star...
Hanan: I yau you...

She never lets me finish!hehe..
Salma's new look for next year...green!We picked up the school uniform early this week when we went for registration. She'll be wearing baju kurung and sports attire during the sports day I guess. They offered pinafore but only for non muslims, I was hoping she could wear that. I don't like the idea of her wearing baju kurung everyday because it means that I need to do more ironing! :P I think the kids would be more comfortable wearing the sports attire aje..and Salma really loves it because of the rainbow printed on it. When I said I wanted to take her picture, terus pose but with her back to me...hehe. She's currently obsessed with rainbows and anything pink!
Hanan's really good at peeling eggs. That one was for Salma's breakfast. Tekun betul :)

Hanan & the wiggles

guilty as charged

Kesiannnnn Hanan. Guess what I did? I accidentally smashed her fingers in the door! We were going out for breakfast, I saw that she had her hand on the grill so I closed the door slowly and I guess that's when she moved her hand! She screamed and I screamed. My heart almost stopped. We rushed to the clinic, two fingers were caught in the door but only one was hurt. The base of her finger nail got above her skin so we had to go to the hospital to get it fixed. The doctor had to pengsankan Hanan with gas before the procedure so I didn't have to stay in the room. Kesian that I had to leave her but I was also glad cause I was getting dizzy. Imagined if I also pengsaned?? When there's a likelihood of blood, I over imagine things and get myself dizzy. Alhamdulillah I didn't slam the door which would have resulted in something much worse...we went to the doctor again today and there's no need for the bandage anymore. Hanan uses her fingers ok when she has the bandage on but whenever it's off nangis je cause she doesn't like the looks of it kot :) Purple and yellow from the antiseptic.

Hanan is so resilient and was such a good sport throughout. I should learn from her... :)

Salma's recovering from a cold

Salma: Mama!Hingus Salma dah hilang
Me: Yay!Dah baik
Salma: Hingus Salma dah jadi stones
Me: Hmm?!Tahi hidungla!
Salma: Like rocks!!Strong, strong, strong! (I think she meant hard)

I just finished reading this book which I borrowed from the library..best jugak. It's a compilation of 4 short stories on women in the 1800's. I'm used to reading horror and thrillers but since I don't have much choice at the library, I've been reading just about everything. When I finished the book I saw the ad for other books by the publisher and I just realized that I had read a Christian romance novel..hehe. No wonder the characters were always praying!Loved the book...people in the 1800's are nothing like the MTV generation of today. No booty shaking, breasts baring girls in that century, well, maybe not in public anyway :P

Well, the reason I wrote about the book is because the characters kept eating biscuits!!Breakfast..dinner...hehe. I just had to have some myself...dengan cuaca yang sejuk memang sedap makan biscuits and jam!Don't you think? It's not a healthy food choice but it's absolutely delicious. So I made a batch (I like the recipes w/o egg) and ended up eating most of it! Gemuklah saya, cause the characters in the book had to wash laundry with their hands and had to do chores at the farm..I just picit-picit button on the washing machine..huhu

I will come out of this monsoon auditioning for Biggest Loser Asia II!

Hopefuly not!

Tok brown

Me: Mama miss tok lah
Salma:Salma pun miss tok yang color brown tu
Me: Hmm?Ada yang white ke
Salma: Ada..yang tok mama yang color white tu...

Gambang Waterpark

After weeks of hearing Salma's daily whining about wanting to go to The Zon and Sunway lagoon we finally took her to Gambang Waterpark..hehe..it's definitely isn't sunway lagoon or The zon which she stated the moment we arrived. She didn't want to come out of the car..boleh tak? After a few minutes of coaxing/threatening to leave her in the car, she relented and ikut.

Really didn't expect the huge crowd as it was the day after raya haji. Shouldn't people still be in their kampungs? Tickets were about half the price of Sunway Lagoon's...RM19.90 for adults and for Salma slightly lower, Hanan got in for free. After about 20mins queing for the tix we finally got in..if you're going don't pack your lunch..no outside food and drinks allowed!I managed to smuggle some crackers and cookies for the kids and that was a smart move. Hadi had to stand in line for almost an hour for food. Haiyahh..if you won't let us bring in food you should at least provide better service!

Okay...tu je the bad stuff...hehe...the kids enjoyed the place and so did Hadi and I. We had nice sunny weather then petang sikit it was slightly cloudy. Hadi managed to get sunburned as he forgot to apply sunblock on his back..kasihan..and I got slightly burned myself because I applied sunscreen that wasn't waterproof!Haha..after an hour in the sun and while reapplying sunblock on the kids I noticed WATERPROOF printed on theirs..haha..barulah I realized mine wasn't.

The park isn't as big as Sunway but good enough for us. They had a couple of the big slides, one family raft slide, kiddies pool, slides for kids, a 'beach', a river - u need to use a tube, and a couple more pools. Our fave was the beach..haha..we have a beach at our doorstep tapi pegi enjoy dekat artifical beach pulak. Overall it was a fun, fun day day despite discovering a kid's stool on the beach!Haha..sungguh gross kan?:P Not from my kid!Must be some kid wearing shorts tu yang tercicir. Uhh..to think I almost stepped on it..pengsan!

Will definitely go again but not in the near future. Salma needs to be at least 110cm so she can accompany me on the big slides :)

Fighting over who gets to sit on the tube..huhu

TMC/Giant has finally opened its doors in Kerteh's Mesra Mall. I'm spoilt for choice!Banyaknya benda boleh beli without having to go all the way to Kemaman or Kuantan. Like my friend said..tempat perabih pitis..hehe. Though now I miss having Mesra Mall all to myself, the place is now so crowded! Now I have to watch where I'm going if I don't want to collide with another person..dulu boleh jalan menonong without anybody in the way..hehe. I hope during workdays the mall would be deserted like it used to be..hehe.

The kids' fave place in Kerteh

Salma: Nak pergi cluuub
Hanan: Gi cluuuubb
Salma: Salma nak swimming dekat club
Hanan: Wimming cluuubb
Salma: Salma nak cluub
Hanan: Nak cluubb

When you have one kid whining that's bad enough..but two?!Hehe..you're most likely to give up and give them what they want, otherwise you'll just get yourself a headache. The kids love the swimming pool. We only have to pay RM31 a month to use the facilities at the club. Murahkan?Where else can you find something as cheap as this? The pools are okay, they have a big adult pool and a smaller kiddies pool + slide. The gym is nothing to brag about but I haven't been there in ages..haha...don't know if they have new stuff now but dulu-dulu takde benda sangat.

Yesterday we had dinner there. After every meal that I've had there I'll always say to myself that I'll never eat there again. Poyo je cause I'll always forget and makan jugak. The food is terrible because they use ingredients yang tak fresh langsung!!!I had rotten brocolli and some rancid butter yesterday which I had to luek..gross. Siapala agaknya the 'brilliant' chef? The previous meal I had there I got some rotten prawns in my kuey teow. I should complain to the management kan?Hmm...tapi biasala, ada rasa kesian kat tukang masak. Just promise myself I would never eat there again..

Hantu kerepek bawang

Taken yesterday nite..pokok cili, will you survive the weather? Our tong sampah pun dah MIA!

It's been a week of rain, rain and moreee rain!Hehe..gelak dalam tangisan. It's been truly depressing but I was lucky to have my sisters here, ada geng and the kids were happy with them and didn't mind so much being stuck indoors. Since I had help we were able to go to the mall and Mcdonalds (best gile ok!!!:) )

Yo and Aishah are now on a bus to Kajang. The kids kept shouting their names from the car but it was raining, so Cik Yo and Cik Shah tak dengar. Salma asked "dia tak bye ke?" dengan suara sedih.

With the cold and rain comes non stop eating untuk panaskan badan (or whatever). Hish..I'm packing on pounds!Need to go to the gym..nope, maybe get Hadi to download some taebo videos for me...bet the kids would love it sebab ingat dancing

Rain rain go away..come again another day :)

Sunway Gagoon and The Zon

Sempurna Resort

The hair that mama trimmed

The bangs that got butchered by the mamak!

All the way to and back from KL Salma kept saying "Salma nak pergi Sunway Gagoon and The Zon" macam a broken record. She kept repeating it over and over..now that we're back in Kerteh I thought she would stop but noooo..siap packing stuff lagi to go to Sunway Gagoon tu! So we're planning on going to a waterpark in Kuantan this cuti raya. There's the big Gambang Waterpark and then there's another place called Sempurna Resort which has a nice kiddies pool. Haven't decided on which one to go to, Gambang looks a lot more fun but semestinya my husband prefers the cheaper one..haha. We'll wait and see...

Rainy days

This is what happens when she wakes up at 6:30am, kong by noon!

Look at Hanan duduk bersila!

Nothing much happening here as we're mostly cooped up because of the rain. It's lovely that they're not being picky with food during the rain spell. Lovely because I don't have to wait so long for them to chew their food. Hanan's usually ok..Salma's the one that's terribly picky. Her favorites are fried chicken (chicken kulit - must have skin or celup tepung), broccoli, cauliflower, cheese, fries and of course anything that is sweet. Anything else must be spoon fed or i need to bribe her with cartoons or candy. Hanan eats almost everything, even kerepek pedas pun makan.

Salma's been waking up earlier than usual. That's really good as she'll be starting tadika next year and will need to leave home by 8:15am. So ni nak try maintain bangun awal so that I don't have to deal with morning tantrums later on :P

The swimming fanatic

Hanan's a swimming fanatic. She loves wearing the floaties and swimming suit at home in the hopes of getting herself into a swimming pool. We finally took the kids to the swimming pool at the club last week and they really enjoyed it..ada slide..wohoo! We used to take Salma when she was younger but stopped when we noticed that everytime after a swim she'll develop a fever. Yela..mak bapak bagi je kids with hingus swim in the pool..very selfish!!Anyway, this time we tried to be extra cautious so we went after it rained and earlier than most people so we got a fresh pool. Alhamdulillah kids are ok...

Last but not least..tengok pokok cili saya!Membesar bagai johan! The kids have been terrorizing my pokok terung...hopefuly some terung will survive. Yesterday we planted some watermelon seeds and kacang boto. Insyaallah mendatangkan hasil if the kids tak pick the small watermelon and jadikan ball...huhu...i forsee something like that happening!

Boyfriend Salma

Salma was talking about how angry she is with Hanan:

Salma: Salma mad sangat sampai jadi dragon. Keluar fire, big fire like tallest hotel. Masa tu Salma ada boyfriend (Apa kaitan??) . He's handsome and genius. Handsome macam babah, takde janggut. And genius. Dia awesome, naik skateboard like this, voomm...blablabla"

Mama dah sleepy dah Salma. Goodnight.

Every child is different

Having a child does not really prepare you enough for another, because as I'm experiencing it, one is not the same as the other. As I remember it, Salma was a sweet baby. Always cool and never shouted or screamed unless provoked (by Hadi lah siapa lagi?) She threw a tantrum a couple of times and that was when she was 2+ when I was pregnant with Hanan. When I tell her no, then give her a reason why or distract her, she would always listen to me. I didn't think twice about having another baby when she was 20 months old as she was such an easy baby to care for.

With Hanan, it's a different story altogether. At first when she wasn't mobile yet she was the sweetest baby ever. Little did we know that there's a little baby monster inside..hehe. Hanan grew up faster than Salma did, she learned to communicate earlier and learnt a lot of other stuff sooner than a baby without a sibling. Since she can communicate with us she really used the tool, she's persistent and demanding. If we refuse her requests she would scream and cry. I've tried to discipline her but after 40 minutes of screaming and body tossing on the floor I gave up. It was mental torture for me. This baby of mine screams for food at the store and bites asparagus sticks before we reach the check out counter.

Yesterday when Hadi kissed Hanan goodnight Salma made a scowling face. She stomped to Hadi's bed and sat next to him. Hadi then asked her if she had anything to say. Saying it as fast as she could she said:

"Tadi Hanan push Salma, tadi Hanan bab Salma, tadi Hanan bite Salma dekat hand, tadi Hanan bite Salma kat sini" dengan muka tak puas hati.

Sometimes we punish Hanan, ask her to sit in a corner but most of the time Salma would laugh it off so tak sangka she was so emotional about it. Tak puas hati babah dia kiss the lil monster. Then I talked to her about how my sister was like Hanan, Salma macam tak boleh accept that Cik Yo naughty macam Hanan.

Even though each child is different, the common thing is that they bring you so much joy. My lil monster is clever, friendly, funny and thoughtful. When I give her things she would always ask for another one for her sister. Imagine how this little kid can bully her sister, tengok size tak padan...but Yo is 5 years younger than I am and managed to bully me when we were younger
Look at Hanan's face. Now I have to deal with an obsessive scratcher. She scratches old mosquito bites until it bleeds and even tried to kutil Salma's luka jugak!!!!She kutil-ed her face because her leg was all wrapped up in a bandage.

Love them both, naughty or not. :)

How to wean toddlers

How to wean toddlers who are down to 3 or 4 feedings per day, will depend on the art of distraction. For example,

  • eliminate the noon-time feeding by giving him more table foods and a sippy-cup of formula (or breast milk).
  • eliminate a pre-nap nursing session by taking him for a walk and letting him fall asleep while in the stroller instead of falling asleep on the breast.
  • eliminate the morning feeding by distracting him with a lively breakfast table with lots of nutritious finger foods.
  • The before-bed feeding is the hardest to give up because your baby is so dependent on that quiet and quality time to settle down for the night. If possible, let your husband or another adult take him to bed so that he is not confronted with you and your breasts which has, until now, always been for him.
from http://www.breastfeeding-mom.com

Now I've started to dodoi Hanan to sleep. Some nights it works, some other nights "nak susu, nak susu" sambil bergolek-golek..hehehe

List it out

I think I'm not learning much by being a stay at home mom. I should make up a list of things to learn and places to go and a bunch of other to dos in the hopes of becoming a better person/mother/wife/citizen..haha..apa-apa je lagi...I used to think my bother Omar was silly for listing everything he wanted to eat/study/watch but now I'm going to do the same, if not I'm going to do the same things over and over again.

I so hate it when people say "so you duduk rumah je lah". I'll put up a smiling face though inside I feel like wringing their necks. Hoho..sungguh ganas. You don't say things like "oh, so you kerja kat Carigali je lah" or "so you Senior Manager je lah". Please drop the aje lah. I'm glad that my husband is really supportive and appreciates what I'm doing even though i only sense this recently :) Biarlah apa orang kata, I'm just glad that my kids are healthy and happy.

Back to making my lists.....

Checkup foya2

Last week the three of us berfoya-foya at the ultimate berfoya-foya place in Kerteh...mana lagi if not mesra mall :) I was craving for caramel frappucino, I think it's been more than a year since I visited starbucks so takpela habiskan duit Hadi..hoho. On the way to the shop was a booth set up by Kuantan Specialist Hospital..pandai nak cari potential customers! They were checking blood sugar level, blood pressure, weight, height and Rm10 if you want to check your cholesterol level. The results for moi was:

Blood sugar level:5.1mmol/l
Blood pressure: 100/65

Weight tak payah ceritala tapi it seems I've lost 2cm off my height!Yikes.

Overall, nothing to be worried about cept for my cholesterol level. The nurse said that below 5.7 is fine, so mine is still normallah but when I googled it I found out that the ideal level is actually to have it <5mml/l and anything above 5 is considered mildly high cholesterol level. I guess the plate of cokodok udang I had yesterday dah added up a few mmol lagi so beginning today, after all the open house, I will eat things that are healthy for my body and indulge in kulit ayam (once a week?) and fried food (4 times a week?I even misspelled it as friend food..huhuuh..that's how friendly I am with fried food) only occasionally.

To good health! :)

Tittle tittle star

Salma drew this after watching mosters vs aliens

Hanan can now say tittle-tittle star!A few days ago she opened the little doa book and started singing...i love you....i love youuuuu....hehe..funnyla si kenit nih. She can also sing e-day you you (happy birthday to you). Sometimes she'll become like the big sister, usually when we are going out Salma would be the last one out the door so Hanan would hold Salma's hand and say go-go, come, though sometimes she'd just push Salma :P memang ganas. Well the other week when we were at the hotel she pimpin Salma sampai her slippers then said pi pe-pi pe. Suruh pakai selipar..

Salma can spell her name, no, zoo, and oso..hehe...special agent oso. Sometimes I think I don't teach her enough but at her age kids learn through play so I just let her play and use her imagination. She learned her ABCs, shapes and counting during my maternity leave one and a half years ago. Macam tak banyak progress pulak but she's learned how to write and draws pretty well. Well, below is a guide I got from http://worldbook.com and looks like she's on track cept for a few that I've highlighted. So my mission this weekend is to help her with the home address and tel no

KL kampung

Undoubtedly, I've gone kampung thanks to our stay in Kerteh or maybe I'm just kampung at heart. Perhaps saya memang takde fashion sense. :) Kerteh folks are pretty laid back when it comes to pakaian whereas KL folks usually dress to impress. Well anyway, everytime we go to KL, we'd always joke whether our outfits are Kl enough and yesterday we did the same thing. When we arrived at klcc a group of girls and a guy were in front of us. The girls all pakai sleeveless baju and nampak bra jugak..so tacky but I said to Hadi 'that's KL style' then Hadi answered east coast la...ingatkan apa rupa-rupanya they were kelantanese..heheh. Kelantan pun dah maju sekarang..apa kata tok guru?

We had dinner at Nandos and I found myself looking at the passing crowd. Most of them were working people, on their way home at 8pm. I hope we won't have to live like that..working all the time and arriving home too tired to be with our loved ones. I've grown to love Kerteh..makcik kampung la I ni..huhu.

The zon klcc

hello!blogging from the zon klcc. Hadi has his skg training so as usual the family pun tag along. Went to the klcc playground with the kids this morning then straight to Suria klcc. Ronda-ronda about 2 hours sampai the mommy tak larat (carrying 9kg load - Hanan) and salma walking funny. Hehe..her kaki had gone lembik on her. Now the kids are happily playing in the bathtub (jakun rumah takde) and I bet they'll fall asleep soon after they get out. Time for me to zzzzzzzz jugak..

Hanan cowgirl senget

This is somewhere near the KT airport. Showed Hanan the horses from across the road and she immediately said nak!nak! So I took her to the beach to look at the horses and she said naik aik, ingat she would be scared but she actually looked toye je the whole time - 3 small rounds. Hehe, budak-budak are always like this, bila nampak the 50cent rides dekat kedai they'd be super excited but when they're actually on it - muka toye. Hehe..wonder what goes on in their minds

When I told Salma that adik was going on the small horsie Salma said she'd naik the big horse. Bila dekat terus kecut perut...hoho..tak naik pun..

Me: Tak payahla
Hanan:A-a-a, no jeans
Salma: Haha, mama, nak pakai jeans
Hanan:A-a-a, no jeans
Salma: Haha, mama, nak pakai jeans

Credit card points bday prensents :)

We only paid rm14 for shipping to get the rocking horse and small tent for Salma thanks to our credit card points (don't worry,we pay full every month). Our card is direct access under CIMB if I'm not mistaken. No yearly or monthly fees then dapat presents pulak..best gile. The horse is too small but she likes it anyway. She loves the tent, it comes with a tunnel!

I'm happy we got the tent as she was always taking the sofa cushions to build her house and Hanan to make her slide. We had no place to sit, now with the tent she doesn't mess around with the cushions and Hanan pun lupa pasal slide..yeay!Win-win for all!

There's the bats

Kids grow up soooo fast...

Hanan is 19 months now. Some of the things she can do:

1) Climb chairs and the dining table. Once Hadi brought back McDonalds, left it on the table then went straight to see me in the bedroom. The kids were surprisingly quiet so I asked Hadi to check on them. Hanan was already on the table poking the plastic bags with the food!Nampak sangat pelahap..hehe

2) Say two words together: nak cucu, babah ane?, etc. Then the other day we were reading lift the flaps book...she's really good at remembering the things behind each flap. So I asked her to find the bats..guess what she said? "There's the bats!" That's 3 words stringed together!Well done. She can also say eee-back, translation : put it back :) . Haha..ni Salmala asik kena..learned from mama ni..

3) I'm sooo glad ribena dah habis. She always wants ribena in her drink, but I make it really diluted. She just wants the color. She'll always come into the kitchen saying nak aye, nak aye. When I fill her cup she'll say ena,ena (ribena) while pointing at the kitchen cabinet, then before i close the lid of her cup, ice, ice, nak ice. :P This baby knows what she wants.

4) When I ask her what she wants for breakfast the answer would always be EGG!The other day she almost gave me a heart attack at the store. Tengah bungkus telur dalam plastic and si kenit ni pun tgh capai telur jugak...luckily tak pecah

5) Whenever we're in the car and she sees a flat clear land she'll say BEACH!

6) Loves reading and repeats words easily. Though she has a problem with saying balloon, she says something like tutu or butu?! for balloon.

7) Copies almost everything that Salma does, she sometimes mimics us when we pray.

8) Everytime we switch off the light, night or day she'll say goo-nite..

9) Loves shoes, knows how to run

10) Listens to instructions..sometimes when Hadi asks Salma to do something and cik salma buat dek je..the little sister will push salma and say go!go!

11) She's a daddy/babah's girl. Since we don't have a bibik anymore, she's closer to Hadi. Always greets him when he comes home from work and seeks Hadi's company when doing her activity...When Salma was little it was always with me or bibik je. I like it better this way that the girls get to be closer to their dad. Better dad then bibik rite?
